A nucleus colony (aka nuc) is small complete colony of honeybees. It contains 5 frames of drawn foundation which contains a laying queen, nurse bees, workers and drones. The frames have either brood ( eggs, larvae, sealed brood ), or have honey and pollen in them as part of the working colony. We raise our own queens which are from: Purdue Leg-chewer Carniolan, both are crossed with Pennsylvania survivor stock. Also, the 'Mite Mauler', which we call "Martha Carpenter Mite-maulers" an Italian style bees is available.
2020 Nuc Orders.
COVID-19 has affected everything we do, including picking up bees. PA Governor Wolf's guidance is for restrictions until May 8th. The situation is fluid and we might accelerate pick ups based on CDC and Governor's guidance.
We ask that you stay in your car, and we will load your bees for you. To make social distancing easier it would be best if you have a truck, but we can make a it work if you can't bring a truck. We are limiting the number of people at any given time, so pls send a text message the day before- 724.967.1957.
Thanks for being understanding we are struggling with how to do these unprecedented times. Bee safe!
